This video demonstrates the insertion of the round ligament, followed by identification of the obliterated umbilical artery (also referred to as the medial umbilical ligament) help to facilitate location of the inferior epigastric vessels lateral to these structures. Lateral trocars should be placed lateral to the inferior epigastric vessels under direct visualization with the laparoscope with care to avoid injury to these vessels.
