About Video

In the early part of the last week of the embryonic period (days 50 to 56), the upper limbs are longer and bent at the elbows (00.10 seconds – 00.30 seconds). The fingers are well defined. They are membranous. Now, obvious furrows are seen among the digital rays of the toes in a fan shape (00.40 seconds – 1 minute and 30 seconds). Toward the end of the eighth week the limbs are differentiated and the fingers lengthen and completely separate. The tail can no longer be seen (1 minute and 40 seconds – 2 minutes and 20 seconds). During this week, for the first time, intentional movements of the limbs appear. During the eighth week lower limbs bone ossification begins in the femur. The vascular plexus of scalp forms a band near the vertex of the head. The hands and the feet turn inward. The embryo measures between 20 and 30 mm (2 minutes and 40 seconds – 3 minutes and 25 seconds).
