This video demonstrates the left ventricular systolic function. Assessment of left ventricular systolic function has a central role in the evaluation of cardiac disease. Two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography, M-mode echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography, and 3D echocardiography are all used to assess the function of LV, both during systole as well as in diastole. Arrangement of LV fibers, components of LV contraction, LV contractility in different views, evaluation of LV, ventricular function and pump performance, systolic function variables, mitral annular motion, calculation of stroke volume, normal LV ejection fraction, myocardial performance index, tissue Doppler imaging, tissue tracking, and speckled tracking are described in this video.
