About Video

This video clip showing two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography. Rheumatic mitral and tricuspid valve disease. 4-chamber view shows diastolic doming of thickened mitral valve (MV) leaflets (yellow arrow) denoting mitral stenosis (MS). Thickening and doming of the tricuspid valve (TV) leaflets consistent with stenosis is also noted in the 4-chamber and transgastric views. Color Doppler examination shows mild-to-moderate mitral regurgitation (MR) and moderate aortic regurgitation. Lower esophageal examination was most useful in this patient to demonstrate torrential tricuspid regurgitation (TR). (CS: Coronary sinus; LA: Left atrium; LV: Left ventricle; PE: Pericardial effusion; RA: Right atrium; RV: Right ventricle).
