Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography. The ventricular septum and left ventricle (LV) posterior wall (PW) are echogenic and markedly thickened because of amyloid deposition, not hypertrophy. These are visualized in parasternal long-axis view (diastole). (Ao: Aorta; DA: Descending aorta; MV: Mitral valve; RA: Right atrium; RV: Right ventricle; RVW: Right ventricular wall).
