Comprehensive Textbook of Echocardiography
by Navin C NandaThis video clip showing two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography. Mitral valve perforation. 5-chamber view. Arrow shows a perforation in the anterior mitral leaflet (AML) resulting in severe mitral regurgitation (MR). Severe aortic valve (AV) regurgitation (AR) is also noted. Note that the perforation is best diagnosed using color Doppler. It is not well seen in B-mode. The perforation is most likely related to previous endocarditis. (LA: Left atrium; LV: Left ventricle; PML: Posterior mitral leaflet; RA: Right atrium).
