About Video

This video clip showing two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography. Mitral valve prolapse and vegetation with chordae rupture. The arrow in the 4-chamber view point to thickened mitral valve (MV) leaflets with prolapse. The 2-chamber view shows a ruptured chord (arrow) prolapsing into the left atrium (LA). An echo density consistent with a vegetation is also noted involving the posterior mitral annulus. The arrow in the M-mode study also points to the ruptured chord. (LA: Left atrium; LAA: Left atrial appendage; LV: Left ventricle; RA: Right atrium; RV: Right ventricle; TV: Tricuspid valve).
