About Video

This video clip depicts suprasternal view of the long axis of aortic arch. Right pulmonary artery can be seen under the aortic arch. Its lower wall is pulsating with contractions of the left atrium. This view is the only one, where an M-mode interrogation of left atrial contraction can be recorded; sometimes it is used in electrophysiology. Pulmonary veins may also be seen in this view, with some angulation. A prime example is shown in figure B after rotating the probe 90°; in this individual, all four pulmonary veins were visualized. (AO: Aorta; Desc Ao: Descending aorta; LA: Left atrium; RPA: Right pulmonary artery; RUPV: Right upper pulmonary vein).
