About Video

This video clip showing two dimensional parasternal long axis view. This view is aligned along the long axis of the left ventricle (LV), hence the name. The parasternal long axis view provides a number of easily recognizable landmarks, making it the optimum view with which to begin the examination. The mitral valve (MV), the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT), the aortic valve (AV), the interventricular septum (IVS)—all are easily identifiable, and allow the echocardiographer to orient herself with the heart of that patient.
