This video demonstrates the technique for shave biopsy. Removal of raised lesion, lesion that easily separates from skin, dome-shaped nevi, benign tumors, nonmelanotic malignant tumors. Complications of infection, bleeding, scarring, and failure to heal. Inject anesthetic around base and under lesion. Stretch and stabilize skin with nondominant hand. If the lesion is flat, pinch upward with forceps. Hold the blade horizontal to the skin. Begin the cut just outside the lesion’s border. Cut with a single smooth cutting stroke. Achieve hemostasis after procedure.
