About Video

This compilation of three videos depicts the management of laryngeal papillomatosis. The first video demonstrates the office treatment of diffuse papillomatosis in the glottis and supraglottis using a LASER under topical anesthesia. The procedure is performed in both contact and non-contact modes. The endpoint of the procedure is usually until all papillomas are treated with the exception of excessive secretions and patient intolerance which may preclude the former. The next video demonstrates treatment using a KTP LASER in the OR under general anesthesia. This is followed by the last video showing the use of cold steel instruments as well as the KTP LASER for the treatment of papillomatosis. The office treatment of such lesions is becoming increasingly popular due to the need for repeated procedures for conditions such as papillomatosis that are known to have a high rate of recurrence. They are, however, limited by the patient tolerance, and may not be possible in children. One must use the LASER judiciously and accurately so as to avoid much thermal damage and ensure an overall favorable voice outcome.
