About Video

If instrumentation of the spine after tumor excision is anticipated, it is preferable to prepare the screw tracts prior to tumor excision as this may obliterate anatomical landmarks and also destabilize the spine. Removal of the facet joint is usually necessary for adequate removal of the tumor. The vertebral artery lies close to the floor of the tumor and injury to it should be avoided. Troublesome bleeding can be controlled by the use of thrombin and Surgicel.
