by Rajasekaran SLeveling the prominence of the transverse process is useful in proper seating of the pedicle screw. Identification of landmarks is crucial in thoracic spine for correct placement. Wherever doubtful, a small laminotomy near the pedicle will aid in correct placement of screws. If thin pedicles are identified in the preoperative CT scans, an “in-out-in” technique is preferable. Spinal cord monitoring is useful to prevent intraoperative neural damage.
