Editorial
We take great pleasure in presenting the 3rd volume of the World Clinics in Diabetology, published by Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd. The overwhelmingly positive response to the earlier two volumes in this series has encouraged us to bring out this volume dealing with some of the less common complications of diabetes.
As the incidence and prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus increase, one can also expect a parallel rise in the burden of diabetes complications. Traditional diabetes complications like retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, cardiovascular disease, and foot problems have been studied in detail over the past decades, but there are some unusual complications of diabetes that have hitherto managed to slip under the diabetologist's radar. In this book, we deal with some of these clinical entities, which can affect the quality of life of people with diabetes and cause significant morbidity and even mortality. The articles in this book have been contributed by renowned clinicians and researchers with vast experience in the field. We believe that practicing clinicians, as well as those in training, will derive great benefit from the knowledge shared by these authors. We thank all the authors for the timely submission of their articles, and M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd for the professional manner in which they have brought out this book, as well as earlier editions of this series.
As always, we welcome feedback and constructive criticism regarding the structure and contents of this book, which will help us in improving the subsequent volumes.
We wish you an informative and enjoyable read.
