Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the structural abnormalities of the heart present from birth, but can even present at any stage of life. Many conditions are recognized during early years of life. The exact cause of CHD is unknown. Genetic factors play an important role in some cases. Some congestive heart disease has a well-defined association between chromosomal abnormalities, e.g. trisomies 13, 15, 18 and 21, and Turner’s syndrome. Congestive heart disease can be classified into three types following as malposition of the heart, shunts, and obstructions, which are briefly discussed in this chapter.
