I have known Dr Rajendra M Chandak for quite a long time. He is a very competent and caring orthopedic surgeon. I have gone through this book. The author has taken great effort to make the patient understand the complexities of fracture healing diagrammatically and in an easy language. I do recommend this handbook to all trauma surgeons to help them in counseling patients with the help of self-explanatory graphics to save precious OPD time.

PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION
I am sure you must have faced time constraint for counseling during the busy OPD hours and “Graphic Explanatory Counseling” plays a key role in such situations. The idea for this manual originated when we were struggling to maintain time schedules during the rush OPD hours. Moreover, the energy level for counseling begins to fall by the end of OPD, which can lead to omission of certain key points being explained to the patient and the relatives. This handbook was thus born, to aid in counseling on actual radiographs as visual aids reduce the communication gap and have a great impact on the mind during counseling.
This is my small effort to help orthopedic surgeons in their day to day practice, to save their precious time and to address the concerns of patient and relatives.
This is probably the first handbook of its kind. You may need to add or modify a few things as per your requirements, as many orthopedic conditions have different surgical options and may require different graphic pictures. These listed visuals will give confidence to the patient while counseling.
After a very positive feedback and suggestions from surgeons who used the first edition, 28 more pages with graphics have been added to the second edition, making counseling of compound fractures, tissue loss, nonunion, and implant stress fractures, more easy to explain to the patients.
