It gives me great pleasure to write foreword to Nursing Research and Statistics by Prof. Rajesh Kumar. The contents are comprehensively covered. The sequence of the contents are organized in a very appropriate manner and it follows the curriculum covered by the students of nursing research. Chapter 11 covers communication and utilization of nursing research and its barriers. Students’ needs to identify and overcome these barriers. Chapter 12 deals with essentials of statistics so that they have ready reference in the same textbook.
I hope this book will be of great help for students of nursing research and is referred widely. I congratulate the author for his initiative and effort in bringing out this book on nursing research.

Nursing is an evolving profession and is committed to promote health, prevention of illness and restoration of disease. Nursing research plays a significant role to achieve the maxim of nursing profession by finding facts and improving knowledge related to given concept. Nursing research is a scientific inquiry to explore the hidden issues and helps to maintain professional growth and dignity. Research based knowledge provides scientific basis for developing and refining the professional knowledge and practice. Nursing research helps and gives chance to study population as a whole, i.e. individual, family, and community.
In order to find facts and figures, it is mandatory to have complete and comprehensive knowledge about different steps of research and its relevant concepts; origin of nursing research, progress at different period of interval, scope of nursing research, resources needed to carry research, need and importance of research demanding environment, various problem faced by researcher and opportunities in field.
The book covers all syllabus governed by Indian Nursing Council for graduate and postgraduate nursing students. This book enables nursing faculty, graduate and post-graduate nursing students to learn various notified concepts of nursing research and statistics. Its primary goal is to give simple, realistic and understandable knowledge to nursing fraternity. It covers many relevant and real life research examples to make the concepts understandable and practical. In addition, this book will help nursing fraternity to learn about various concepts and ways of research publication and enable to publish paper in nursing discipline to improve personal and professional growth.
