When I took over the charge as chairperson of Clinical Research Committee of FOGSI in 2004, I was a bit apprehensive regarding the working of this committee. I conducted more than 25 workshops and also organized a national conference on science of research in 2007.
My observation during these five years was, FOGSI members preferred to stay away from “Research” and very few are interested in research.
I realized, there is no compact literature available on Research Methodology. I wanted to make research methodology as simple as possible. I am extremely happy to bring out this book on “Essentials of Research Methodology and Dissertation Writing”. Most of the authors are very senior people, working in this field. They have contributed topics which will be of immense value for the postgraduate students in their day-to-day research.
I am extremely thankful to all the authors for their invaluable contributions. Most importantly, FOGSI permitted me to edit this book and M/s Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi, agreed to publish this book on a subject, out of the way!
