The skin composed of epidermis, dermis and hypodermis is the largest organ of the body catering to vital physiological functions along with its appendages. This chapter depicts the development and microanatomy of the skin and its appendages with diagrammatic representations thereby providing a basis for understanding the physiology of the skin. The structure of skin and its appendages are dealt in succinct emphasising on the key components and enlisting the functions of each structure.
