IAPSM’s Textbook of Community Medicine

The second edition of IAPSM’s Textbook of Community Medicine is continuation of efforts of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) to reshape the discipline and give it a desired direction for teaching, learning and practices. This book is comprised of 5 sections mainly focus on basics of health and disease, core and allied sciences, community health problems and vulnerable groups, community health management, and managing community health in India, which are further divided into 51 chapters. The chapters and flow of the topics and subtopics are in a logical and progressive manner, i.e., from basic sciences to applied sciences. Also, applications in community medicine practice are emphasized keeping focus on the Indian health situation and healthcare system. A textbook of community medicine written in lucid language, with logical explanations, giving clear understanding about the subject was the long-time felt need in medical education. This will also keep the future health professionals of India well informed about country’s health conditions and the ongoing preventive and promotive efforts by the Government.
