The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) is committed to the continuous acquiring of knowledge for the betterment of women’s health in India. Placenta is considered as the Tree of Life and this book will be dealing with its abnormalities. Abnormal placentation poses a diagnostic and treatment challenge for all providers caring for pregnant women. This book consists of 11 chapters, which include overview of abnormal placental implantation, diagnosis and consequences of antepartum hemorrhage, management and challenges of antepartum hemorrhage, placenta accreta spectrum, checklist for cesarean section in placenta accreta spectrum disorders, placental variants and their clinical significance, role of placental and cord examination in unexplained stillbirth, retained placenta after birth, and placental endocrinology and its clinical applications. Women need to undergo extensive surgeries such as obstetric hysterectomy and bladder repair at delivery which also has led to an increase in the severe maternal morbidity.
