The aim of this book is to focus on the manual of nutrition and therapeutic diet. Diet plays an important role not only in the maintenance and development of health conditions of the individuals but also in the early recovery from the illness to the patients. This book comprises of nine sections following as nutrition, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and energy, water and electrolytes, balanced diet, food preservation and hospital diets, nutritional programs or education and role of nurse that are further divided into 45 chapters. Its include introduction to nutrition, medicinal benefits of whole foods, food classification, classification and functions of carbohydrates, metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrates, classification and functions of fats, water, electrolyte and its imbalances, fluid and electrolyte balance, overhydration, dehydration and diarrhea, water intoxication, balanced diet element, food group, nutritive value of common food articles, recommended daily allowance, diet as a therapeutic agent, naturopathic diet, food-borne diseases and food adulteration or food additives. The purpose to bring out manual of nutrition and therapeutic diet with new INC syllabus is to help undergraduates, graduate nursing students, dietic students, and medical students. The nursing teachers can use this book for preparing lesson plans.
