Entrapments syndromes are neuropathies that are caused by compression of peripheral nerves. The nerve can be compressed at any site but it is more common at specific anatomical sites where the nerve travels through a fibro-osseous or fibro-cartilaginous structure or a muscle. Entrapment neuropathies of the lower extremity are much less common than those of the upper extremity. This chapter covers the common peroneal neuropathy, tibial neuropathy, sciatic neuropathy, femoral neuropathy, lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy, obturator neuropathy, ilioinguinal neuropathy, and genitofemoral neuropathy.
