Antidepressants are a type of medication used to treat clinical depression or prevent it recurring. Antidepressants include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tetracyclic, tricyclic, and miscellaneous. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) include citalopram, duloxetine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, and sertraline. Tetracyclic include mianserin and mirtazapine. Tricyclic include amitriptyline, clomipramine, desipramine, doxepin, imipramine, and nortriptyline. Miscellaneous include amoxapine, bupropion, and trazodone.
