This Exam Preparatory Manual mainly focuses on surgery for undergraduate students. This manual fulfils all the requirements of the medical student prior to the surgery examinations and will also, at the same time, improve the concepts of the gray areas that I feel the students commonly encounter and get confused. This manual is comprised of 8 sections, which focus on general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, genitourology, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, breast and endocrine surgery, radiology, and miscellaneous, which are further divided into 46 chapters. The important change in this edition is the inclusion of a lot of case-based scenarios, image library as well as multiple choice questions and key topics on the perioperative journey of a patient, transplant journey of a patient, bariatric surgery, more detailed discussion of concepts of portal hypertension, fluid and electrolyte abnormalities and many more. Topics like renal failure, coagulation and anticoagulation, acid-base balance, cardiac and respiratory risk assessment as well as management are very important in surgical workup and management of the patient and are highlighted here. Authors have also tried to increase the number of algorithms, figures, tables, and flowcharts and minimize the theory part.
