Neurology and Internal Medicine: A Case-based Study

by Ambar Chakravarty

Neurology and general Internal Medicine are intimately related to each other. Several systemic illnesses manifest neurological problems at some stages of the disease. The present book, with contributions from reputed neurologists and internists from India and abroad, has been able to compile around 170 case studies, all of which have been discussed in an interactive manner. The cases included have been divided into 12 sections, namely tropical and infectious diseases, neurological disorders during pregnancy and following operative procedures, puzzling strokes, neurohepatology and unusual posterior leukoencephalopathies, neurohematology and paraneoplastic syndromes, movement disorders, neuroimmunology, neuroendocrinology and metabolic disorders, neuromuscular disorders, rage of the angel–one hundred years later !!, uncommon headaches and orofacial pains for the internist, and unusual neurocutaneous syndromes. The Commentaries at the beginning of the book provide a ‘‘bird’s eye view’’ of some selected problems lying in the interface of medicine and neurology. This book is suitable for neurologists of all categories, physicians, pediatricians, and trainees in medicine, neurology, and pediatrics.
