THESIS Writing: The T,H,E,S,I,S Approach

by Tejinder Singh, Rajiv Mahajan

The title of the book is so catchy “THESIS WRITING ‒ the T, H, E, S, I, S. Approach.” It compelled me to peep into the book and explore the acronym ‒ T (Tickling), H (Hologram), E (Expansion), S (Scenarios), I (Improvisation), and S (Summary). Thesis is a very important yet neglected part of postgraduate training. While every thesis may not bring out “original” research, yet it helps to train the student to pose a research question, formulate hypothesis, collect, and analyze data and learn the art of scientific writing. This book consists of 20 chapters that mainly focus on the role and importance of thesis in postgraduate training, research designs, starting research, review of literature, writing a synopsis, sample size, managing timeline, ethical issues in thesis research, compilation of thesis work, handling revisions, disseminating thesis research, and translational education research. The topics like managing timeline, forward looking and backward-looking planning tools will be extremely useful to the busy postgraduate students. All other topics chosen are equally relevant. This book will resonate well with the students and researchers early in their career.
