The aim of this book is to focus on the Neurological Examination: A Structured Approach. Neurological examination is the assessment of sensory neuron and motor responses, especially reflexes, to determine whether the nervous system is impaired. Clinical neurology has received a well-deserved attention in the recent years, with reputed journals discussing and debating its relevance in modern neurology. This book consists of 18 chapters, which include assessment of higher mental functions, examination of a patient in coma, cranial nerves, motor system, examination of the sensory system, reflexes, examination of coordination, examination of gait, examination of movement disorders, clinical evaluation of seizures and epilepsies, examination of a patient with vertigo, autonomic nervous system, neurological examination of a neonate, and pediatric neurological examination. Each chapter is divided into 4 fixed components following as physiological basis, methodology, interpretation, and caveats. These represent the 4 levels where clinical errors can creep in. This book is an attempt to present neurological examination in a fixed, structured format that minimizes this variability and to encourage uniformity. This book can be used by neurologists, neurosurgeons, physicians, pediatricians as well as postgraduate trainees from these fields.
