BOOK TITLE: Principles and Practice of Assisted Reproductive Technology
A quality management system (QMS) is a process within an organization to ensure that the service is provided consistently and with as little variation as possible. QMS consists of quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and quality improvement. QC is a process that includes all activities or operational techniques carried out in order to meet the quality requirements. The main goal of QC is to evaluate the effectiveness of various policies and procedures, identify and correct problems, to ensure the accuracy and precision of procedures, and to monitor the performance of the laboratory staff. QA is the sum total of all the activities required to establish the confidence that the product or the service is meeting the determined quality requirements. Quality management is not a task that can be performed alongside regular work. It comes with its own advantages and disadvantages which are tabulated in this chapter.
