Test-and-treat is an intervention strategy in which the population at risk is screened for HIV infection and diagnosed HIV infected individuals receive early treatment, aiming to eliminate HIV as it reduces the rate of spreading the virus to other people. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is the etiological agent of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It belongs to the family of human retroviruses (retroviridae) and subfamily of Lentivirus and mainly reproduces in CD4+ T lymphocytes and monocytes/macrophages causing severe immunological impairment. This book comprised of 8 sections that focus on basics of HIV/AIDS infection, anti-retro viral drugs, treatment of HIV/AIDS infection, opportunistic infections, special problems related to HIV/AIDS infection, precautions etc., which are further divided into 25 chapters.
