Abstract

The stations testing clinical knowledge usually test the skills which an ST5 level would be commonly performing in the wards, clinics or the operating theatre. These situations usually simulate the scenarios commonly encountered in the clinical practice. In order to perform well at these kinds of stations, the candidates need to mentally imagine themselves to be at the clinic and perform the duties which they would normally have in such kind of scenarios. Some such stations testing the candidate’s clinical knowledge may require the candidate to demonstrate some skills. Sometimes such stations could also require the candidate to teach a role-player certain clinical skills. This chapter provides discussion on 8 OSCE stations which candidates may face in the clinic or the operating theatre or the labour ward and they would be expected to describe how they would manage such situation.
