Abstract

Nonpneumatic antishock garment (NASG) is used as a life-saving first aid device in uncontrollable postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). It controls bleeding, reverses shock, and stabilizes the patient’s condition to enable safe transport to a center, which is equipped with comprehensive obstetrics care facilities. Nonpneumatic antishock garment (life wrap) applies pressure on the legs and abdomen, blood returns to vital organs curbing internal bleed, and stabilizes blood pressure (BP) until patient reaches appropriate hospital. This chapter covers the how does nonpneumatic antishock garment work, when to remove nonpneumatic antishock garment, how to remove nonpneumatic antishock garment, caution, storing nonpneumatic antishock garment, and advantages of nonpneumatic antishock garment.
