Manual of Hysteroscopy

by Sunita Tandulwadkar, SN Tripathy, KC Mahapatra, SK Giri, Sujata Swain

This manual focuses on hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to look inside your uterus in order to diagnose and treat causes of abnormal bleeding. Hysteroscopy, although known since 1869 and used since 1925, has gained general acceptance by gynecologists relatively slowly. It was not until 1970 when 32% Dextran was used to distend the uterine cavity that gynecologists slowly began to utilize hysteroscopy, not only for diagnosis, but also for operative procedures. This manual consists of 12 chapters, which covers Operation Theater setup and instruments used in hysteroscopy, ideal anesthesia for hysteroscopy, basic principles in operative hysteroscopy, microhysteroscopy, contact hysteroscopy and office hysteroscopy, hysteroscopic evaluation of infertile couple, hysteroscopy in abnormal uterine bleeding, role of hysteroscopy in müllerian anomaly, hysteroscopic myomectomy, transcervical resection of uterine septum, complications of hysteroscopic surgery, and hysteroscopic contraception. This manual has chapters that address all of the present hysteroscopic therapies and will provide an in depth discussion of the current knowledge of hysteroscopy and global ablation techniques. This manual will prove to be a boon to all those who are associated with the field and wants to gain more knowledge in the subject matter.
