Abstract

This chapter deals with the discussion on chemotherapy of malaria. Malaria is caused by protozoa of genus plasmodia. Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium ovale, Plasmodium malariae, and Plasmodium knowlesi are the species of malaria. Life cycle of malaria parasite is described in this chapter with the help well-illustrated figure. Fever with chills, myalgia, arthralgia, headache and fatigue, Diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness and hypotension, etc. are some clinical features of malaria. Classification and antibiotics used in malaria are discussed thoroughly in this chapter.
