Abstract

This chapter covers discussion on hypolipidemic drugs. Lipoproteins transport cholesterol and triglycerides (TG) in blood. Low-density lipoproteins (LDL), high-density lipoproteins (HDL) transport, very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), and chylomicrons (CM) are the four types of lipoproteins. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins), fibric acids (fibrates), bile acid binding resins, nicotinic acid or niacin, dietary cholesterol absorption inhibitor (ezetimibe), etc. are the important topics which are covered in this chapter. At the end of this chapter there are 9 questions along with their crisp and to the point answers have been also given, which will be of benefit for answering the short answers and even a viva voce question.
