Abstract

This chapter presents a glimpse on antidiuretics. Antidiuretics are classified into antidiuretic hormones, vasopressin analogs, thiazide diuretics, and others. Vasopressin receptors are V1 and V2. V1 causes vasoconstriction and V2 leads to water retention in collecting duct. Both are G protein-coupled receptor. Thiazide diuretics decrease urine output of both neurogenic/nephrogenic DI. This is a paradoxical effect due to unknown mechanism.
