Various instruments used for cleaning and draping are listed in this chapter, namely Mayo’s towel clip, Cheatle’s forceps, Rampley’s sponge holding forceps, and Moynihan’s tetra-towel clip. Dissecting forceps are designed so that they are normally open and on applying pressure on the grip, there is very precise closure of the tip. Tissue holding forceps are used to hold the tissues firmly for the purpose of dissection or tissue apposition at the time of suturing. The chapter also covers forceps used for hemostasis, suturing instruments, instruments used for making incision, scissors, retractors, miscellaneous instruments, tracheostomy instruments, drains, plastic and rubber instruments, and catheters.
