Head injury is the leading cause of death and disability in young adults and accounts for one-third of all trauma deaths. The principal causes of head injury are road traffic accidents, assaults, falls, sport injuries and industrial accidents. Anatomically, head injury can be classified starting from skin and going to the brain. This chapter describes the scalp laceration and skull fractures. The pathophysiology of brain injury and blood vessel injury, management of head injury patient is explained. Cavernous sinus thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot within the cavernous sinus; a venous sinus at the base of the brain. Clinical features and examination of cranial nerve injuries are outlined along with detailed description of trigeminal neuralgia and facial nerve paralysis.
