The objective of this chapter is to introduce the antiasthmatics. Antiasthmatics drugs are used for the treatment of asthma. They may be useful either in the treatment or prevention of asthma attacks. This chapter covers the terbutaline, montelukast, budesonide, fluticasone, theophylline, orciprenaline, formoterol, ipratropium bromide, bambuterol hydrochloride, tiotropium bromide, aminophylline, doxofylline, ketotifen, cromoglicic acid, salbutamol, beclometasone, salmeterol, and ciclesonide along with their indication, dose, contraindication, precaution, adverse effect, and drug interaction. Chronic asthma, prophylaxis of exercise-induced asthma, and allergic rhinitis are the indications of montelukast. Asthma prophylaxis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), allergic rhinitis, and corticosteroid responsive dermatoses are the indications of fluticasone.
