The objective of this chapter is to introduce the antianginal drugs. An antianginal is any drug used in the treatment of angina pectoris, a symptom of ischaemic heart disease. Nicorandil, isosorbide dinitrate, dopamine, glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, dobutamine, ivabradine, and dipyridamole are the drugs described in this chapter along with their indication, dose, contraindication, precaution, adverse effect, and drug interaction. Management of angina, heart failure (oral and sublingual), percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (intracoronary), unstable angina and heart failure are the indications of isosorbide dinitrate.
