Histopathology means the microscopic study of diseased tissues. It is one of the important tools in anatomy and pathology for the accurate diagnosis of cancer and other diseases. Its help us to study the tissue in their original conditions with the least amount of postmortem changes. It provides us a continuous series of sections for studying not only a part of tissue but the entire tissue microscopically. This chapter covers the decomposition and putrefaction, various steps of histological techniques, specimen collection, logging of specimen, tissue marking and orientation, methods of examination of tissues, special instructions on specimen collection and handling, and duties and responsibilities. In this chapter, questions for exercise and objective type questions are also provided.
