Abstract

In patients with heart disease, two parameters are extremely important following as systolic and diastolic function of left ventricle and right ventricle and the presence or absence of pulmonary hypertension. The management and the prognosis of the patients depend on these two important parameters. Echocardiography plays an important role in the early diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension, the causes of pulmonary hypertension, assessment right ventricular function and the prognosis. For reliable diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension it is better we use multiple parameters obtained by Doppler and from two dimensional echocardiography rather than only the peak right ventricular systolic pressure alone.
