This book describes some of the basic laparoscopic techniques and the instruments involved in it so that the young upcoming surgeons and postgraduates can practice basic laparoscopy. There are some great advantages of laparoscopy such as minimal pain, minimal blood loss, faster recovery, minimal loss of working days and cosmesis. The disadvantages are loss of hand-eye coordination and technically demanding. Though laparoscopy has grown exponentially, there is a need for it to penetrate the rural areas. This book is written particularly keeping in mind the young upcoming surgeons and postgraduates. This book will help the rural surgeons to practice basic laparoscopy in rural areas. The book contains 16 chapters covering history of laparoscopy, imaging system, different instruments, diagnostic laparoscopy and its ergonomics.
