Abstract

Abstract

This chapter discusses diabolical diabetes (diabetes mellitus). In this chapter, 28 cases are provided along with their diagnosis. A 28-year-old male presented to the outpatient department (OPD) with osmotic symptoms (thirst, dry mouth, weakness). He was known to have diabetes mellitus for the past 2 years. He had 2 episodes of diabetic ketoacidosis in the past. A 23-year-old gentleman, a known patient with diabetes, had presented with uncontrolled sugars. He had osmotic symptoms with excessive thirst, increased urinary frequency and weight loss at the age of 21 years. A 32-year-old lady presented with a history of diabetes mellitus which was diagnosed during her second pregnancy. A 56-year-old, postmenopausal, Mrs. B arrived at the emergency room with complaints of high-grade fever with chills and left flank pain for 4 days. She gave a history of having been unwell for the past month when she noticed an increase in the frequency of passing urine, during the day and night. The brief discussion is also given in every case in this chapter.
