The Nursing in Pediatric Intensive Care depicts advances and changes in the level of training of nurses in pediatric intensive care. Important topics of discussion include assessment of a sick child, age-related vital parameters, pediatric basic life support, emergency drugs in PICU, handling of monitoring equipment in PICU, handling of defibrillator and ventilator, preparation of intravenous fluids, and maintaining drug compatibility charts. The nurses acquiring skills in the pediatric ICUs are getting trained in pediatric advanced life support, transplant ICUs, especially bone marrow transplant and solid organ transplants like liver and kidney. PICU nursing manual provides theoretical knowledge and also practical issues faced by the nurses during their day-to-day working in the pediatric ICUs.
