Abstract

This chapter discuss about the CAD Preventive Strategies in Diabetes Mellitus. With the diabetes there are higher risks of developing coronary disease than people without diabetes. Cardiovascular risk can by reduce by optimal glycemic control, blood pressure control, and cholesterol management, smoking cessation, lifestyle modification and using drugs. Many studies like ACCORD, ADVANCE, VADT etc. believed that the optimal glycemic level can be helpful to control the CAD. BP has been identified as a risk factor for CHD, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, renal failure etc., and is most important preventable contributors to disease. CHOLESTEROL management, SMOKING cessation, LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION have sustained effect on reducing incidence of diabetes, and helps to reduce the occurrence and mortality of CVDs. Drugs like aspirin In Hypertension Optimal Treatment, reduced the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes.
