Nutrition in Obesity & Diabetes is targeted towards health professionals dealing with overweight and diabetic individuals in their daily practice. Chapters 1 and 2 cover the basic principles of estimating energy requirements of an individual and assessment of nutritional status and body composition. Chapter 3 discusses the existing evidence of the role of nutrition and lifestyle factors in the etiology of obesity and diabetes. Chapter 5 discusses the different treatment options for obesity and includes sections by experts on physical activity and behavioral modifications. The nutritional management of different types of diabetes and complications of diabetes are described in chapters 6–9. Complementary and alternative medicine therapies are becoming more popular and chapter 10 reviews the evidence on some of the complementary and alternative therapies used for patients with obesity and diabetes.
