Treatment of Acne Scars

Acne is a common disorder seen predominantly on the face in adolescence. It is not permanent, but the scars arising as a result of acne are severe and permanent and great negative impact on social and psychological aspects. 95% of patients having acne suffer from scarring depending on their severity. Treatment is a challenging task and positive results can be accomplished only by starting off the treatment process early. The book deals with explanation of stepwise procedures required to treat acne scars (including postacne scars which require many multiple procedures to be carried out many number of times). Scars like macular scars, ice pick scars, rolling scars, boxcar scars, linear scars, bridging scars, perifollicular or papular scars, lipoatrophic scars and hypertrophic scars are explained individually with their etiology, treatment procedures, complications, pathophysiology and preoperative and postoperative procedures, different imaging techniques like optical imaging, dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy, digital photography, ultrasound, vivascope are used for the documentation of the scars in normal and some special cases and treatment procedures such as topical treatment, chemical peels, CROSS technique, subcision, punch excision, microneedling, microdermabrasion are covered in detail.
