Abstract

Although ESR is a nonspecific test, still it is widely accepted because of its easy performance and cost effectiveness, can be done at any setting and very high and low value gives an idea of underlying pathological condition and a good prognostic marker of disease. So ESR is an adjuvant test that guides the clinician for management of disease. How ESR is performed, how blood is collected, technical error that may affect ESR, molecular and biochemical basis of ESR, normal range of ESR, high and low values are also given.
