The necessity of confirming clinical diagnosis stimulated the invention of diagnostic imaging in clinical medicine. The aim of these imaging technologies is to provide comprehensive evaluation of (patho) anatomy, (patho) physiology, prognosis and management. X-ray imaging, angiocardiography, ultrasound imaging, two-dimensional echocardiography, and Doppler echocardiography are discussed. Intracardiac intracoronary ultrasound, nuclear imaging, positron emission tomography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and fusion imaging are described.
